Logo Design

Project Scope

This project centers on a logo I designed for the South Austin Boy Scout Troop 10. Troop 10 is mostly composed of teenagers and pre-teens, so while designing this logo the primary challenge was to create a design that was both appropriate to the parents but also appealed to the teenage boys sense of alternative fashion. The Troop leaders wanted t-shirt designs with these traits in order to get the troop members to be more willing to wear their t-shirts in public, in an effort to recruit more members.

Logo & Branding

The logo was hand-drawn in order to create a rugged and natural tone that was fitting to the Boy Scouts of America. The “T” and “X” brand marks are both illustrated as logs tied together with square lashings, a popular knot that is taught to boys in Boy Scouts. The “T” stands for Troop, while the “X” is for the roman numeral X or 10. Coincidentally, the “TX” can also be an acronym for Texas, the birthplace of Troop 10.
